ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT WORDING -
You're engaged and just starting the very exciting process of planning one of the most memorable days of your lives. Your engagement is something to celebrate and share with loved ones even before the long planning process begins. You can share your engagement with family and friends in many ways, including engagement announcement cards. Engagement announcement wording can vary from a fun poem to a formal announcement made by your parents. The rules around engagement card verses are flexible and since you are probably very early in the planning of your wedding, your engagement announcement wording doesn't need to tie-in to your wedding invitations or your wedding theme- have fun in your first steps toward marriage. Below are sample engagement announcement wording examples, to give you an idea of just some of the options available.

JUST TO ANNOUNCE ~

This second engagement announcement verse is simple and to the point. If you are not one for extensive poetry or a formal party, you can still let your friends and family know that you are engaged with a beautiful engagement card. If you’ve opted to skip the engagement party but your parents want to send an engagement announcement, consider writing something like this to mail out.
THROW A PARTY AND ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT WORDING ~
Engagement Party
given in honor of
Grace Synder and Elijah Dexter
on the eighth of January
Two thousand and ten
at eight o’clock
The Capital Grille
444 Brickell Ave
Miami, Florida
Some, but not all engagement announcements also double as an engagement party invitation. If you are in between something formal and very casual, this engagement announcement wording could work for you. In this example, there is no "hosting line" and it also skips on any flowery language. Don't forget, an engagement party can be anything from a back yard barbeque to a formal dinner, and this example seems to fit somewhere in between.
FUN & FUNKY ANNOUNCEMENT WORDING ~
are a bride and groom about to say, "I do!"
Please join us to celebrate the engagement of
Vanessa Slattery and Nathan Scott
on April 10, 2010
at four o’clock
Café Mattise
Rutherford, New Jersey
Engagement announcement verses don't have any rules, so feel free to send out a playful announcement. This verse contains a few fun lines before getting into the details of the announcement. The wording also invites your guests to a party, but if you're not throwing one simply change the rest of the words to "BRIDE and GROOM… announce their engagement".
SPIRITUAL ANNOUNCEMENT WORDING ~
the spirit of the family,
and the pride of our ancestry . . .
Mr. and Mrs. John Antonellis
announce the engagement of their daughter
Mackenzie
to
Austin Sideman
on July 4, 2009
Another way to go with your engagement wording is to incorporate family and spirituality. What ever your religion may be, there are plenty of engagement announcement verses that will suit you. This example has a solemn feeling by the introduction but also could suit a variety of different religious backgrounds. If you and your fiancé celebrate different religions, then something like this verse could be a great way to include a general sense of spirituality.
There are so few, if any, rules regarding engagement card verses. The engagement announcement itself can take any shape you want and it’s totally up to you the direction you take them in. The announcement of your engagement is a very special time and sharing the news with friends and family with a card or party is a great opportunity to start the celebration.
